OmaPhoto

A layered image editor for Linux, made for Omarchy.

OmaPhoto is a Photoshop-style image editor for Linux, built first for Omarchy, and it takes on the colours of whatever Omarchy theme you are running. It is a port of Compositor, the open-source Photoshop alternative for the Mac.

Work happens in layers: groups, blend modes, masks, clipping masks, and adjustment layers, with text that can change colour and font letter by letter. Fifteen tools sit on the rail, from brush and eraser to clone stamp, spot healing, and liquify, with twelve kinds of adjustment.

It opens what you already have: PSD and PSB, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, SVG, HEIC from a phone, and RAW from a camera. Finished work exports to PNG or JPEG.

Remove Background takes one click and runs entirely on your own machine. The photo never leaves it.

A project opens the same in OmaPhoto and in Compositor on a Mac, so files move freely between the two. Scripts and AI agents can edit a project too, and the canvas updates while you watch.

It installs with one command on Arch and Omarchy, Ubuntu, Fedora, and NixOS. OmaPhoto is open source under the MIT license.
