Agent Company

A local-first desktop app that runs a company of AI agents from one goal.

Agent Company is a desktop control plane for autonomous AI companies. You write one goal. An AI CEO reads it, decides which roles the mission needs, hires specialist agents, draws the org chart from your board seat down to every department, delegates the work, and reports back. You keep the final say on the decisions that matter. I have built it alone since February 2026, as an experiment in organization as software.

The first run walks through seven steps: a check for Node.js, at least one connected model runtime, the company's name and workspace, the models the CEO and the workers may use, the operating mode, the first mission with its acceptance description, and launch. Two modes exist. AI CEO runs the company on its own. AI Co-Founder routes the decisions through a person first.

The agents run on the model runtimes you connect: Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Kimi, GLM, MiniMax, a local Ollama, or any Anthropic-compatible API. They work inside the tools a company already uses, with connectors for GitHub, Slack, Notion, Google Workspace, Stripe, and dozens more. What they deliver depends on the goal: code, research, content, business documents.

Every agent has a desk in a pixel office. A glance across the floor shows who is heads-down at work, who is in the meeting room, and what the whole company is doing. Agents talk in direct messages and department channels, and the reasoning behind each hand-off and decision is written out in plain language.

Spend stays under a cap. A monthly budget and per-agent allocations bound the company, and requests, tokens, and cost are tracked by agent. Under the interface a policy engine decides which actions run on their own, which wait for approval, and which are blocked. Every important state change is written to an audit event.

Everything runs on your machine. Company, department, role, agent, task, decision, and memory records live in a local SQLite database; secrets sit in the operating system keychain; the only network calls go to the AI provider you connected. The app is Electron with a main, preload, and renderer split, and every message across that boundary is validated with Zod. Builds ship for Windows and macOS.
